ATTRIBUTES of GOD- Part 8 - God's Omnipresence
a worship devotional for musicians
inspired by A.W. Tozer: The Attributes of God: Vol. 1, A Journey Into the Father's Heart
Touched on Chapter 7: God's Omnipresence last Wednesday. If God is everywhere why do people speak of Him as if He is far away? Tozer suggests to picture God like the ocean and then picture all of outer space and the earth being contained in a bucket. Now plunge the bucket into the ocean so that the bucket is fully submerged. God is close to everything in the bucket and yet He has no boundaries…He cannot be contained and is near to us at all times. He seems far to us because we view Him with human limitations. His nature is so very different from our own.
7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths,[a] you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
